We begin with a warm welcome for our newest Explorers: Kobi, Robert, Thea, Jake, Georgia, Evelyn, Misam, Clemmie and Eleanor.
Our theme this week is summer gardens. We will be looking at flowers, their petals, leaves and roots. Outside, children can have fun making prints from real flowers and can enjoy searching for mini creatures in the garden, and spotting similarities and differences. We will remember to take care not to cause too much disturbance, and where a closer examination is needed, we will safely return the creatures to the wild.
The Explorers will be learning a new rhyme - 'These are the flower buds, shut so tight' - and creating flower pictures. The Discoverers will be listening to the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and decorating their walls with scenes from the story.
The ice cream parlour has opened in the theme area and the children can buy and sell ice creams. As for the taste of the different flavours, they will need to use their imaginations!
The Discoverers’ word of the week is antennae.
