Applying to schools
If your child was born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023, they will be eligible to start school in the school year beginning September 202.
Applications for Year R places for September 2027 open on Sunday 1st November 2026 and close on Friday 15th January 2027. Please click here to go to Hampshire County Council's website for information on applications, including key dates, schools within your catchment area and how to apply for places.
Most schools have open evenings or open days during the autumn term, when you can visit and see the school in action. Please look at the school’s website for more information or contact the school to make an appointment.
Hampshire County Council has also produced a Ready Steady School leaflet, which provides useful information about starting school.
