Best start in life hub

Best Start in Life is a government website that brings together trusted information, advice, and guidance on everything from pregnancy, early education and childcare, right through to starting school, making it easier for parents and carers to find the support that suits them. â€‹

Hampshire County Council: Connect to Support

Connect to Support is the central online hub for Hampshire families, providing a comprehensive directory and resources for children's development, health and well-being:

  • Early help advice

  • Groups and activities

  • Childcare

  • Support for SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities)

  • Family support

  • Resources for young carers

  • Financial aid (eg food and holidays via connect4communities)

Home Start - Basingstoke

Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children through their challenging times.

You don't need to be in a crisis to get help; Home Start is there for everyday struggles too.

  • Drop-in groups and courses where parents can meet and get support.

  • Home visiting: Trained volunteers visit families at home for a few hours each week, offering friendship and practical help tailored to the family's specific needs. 

  • Practical Support: Help with daily tasks, organising finances, managing stress, and connecting with other services. 

  • Emotional Support: Combat loneliness, boost parental confidence, and help parents cope with issues like postnatal depression or anxiety. 

  • Child Development: Support parents in interacting and playing with their children, fostering better emotional and physical health.

NHS Talking Therapies Hampshire

​NHS Talking Therapies Hampshire (formally known as italk) is a free NHS service that helps people with common mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and stress by offering evidence-based psychological therapies, guided self-help, and educational resources. The services are free and you can refer yourself for support.
