Clothes

We try to take the children outside in sun, wind, rain and snow, so long as it is safe to do so. Please ensure that they have the clothes that they need to enjoy the English weather safely, eg sunhats in summer; warm coats, gloves, warm hats and scarves in winter. Ice on the lanes and in the car park

During the winter, the lanes around The Barn and the car park are often icy, so please allow extra time for your journey. Children may arrive for the morning session between 9am and 9.20am, because there is free play whilst the children arrive, put away their drinks bottle, lunch box, coat and bag, and then settle into the daily routine.

If we have to close The Barn due to adverse weather conditions, we will post information about the closure on this webpage and send out messages on Famly.

We will always aim to remain open if it is safe to do so. The decision to close The Barn due to adverse weather would be based on a risk assessment prioritising the safety, health, and welfare of the children, staff, and parents, and guidance from the local authority. ​
