We have had a lovely week exploring homes and acting out the story of The Three Little Pigs and building our own homes with the large bricks. The children have loved feeding our grasshoppers fruit this week and watching them leap about, they have been very entertaining to watch.

This week, our theme is my body and our senses, we are going to be very busy!

The children will be listening to their hearts, measuring their heights, and finding out ‘who is the tallest of them all?’ We will record everyone’s height on our chart and, during the year, the children will be able to see how much they have grown. A doctor’s surgery has opened in the role play area and at review time, we will be singing ‘Heads, shoulders, knees, and toes' and doing the actions. (click to open) and dancing away to the Beanbag song.

We will be exploring different materials with our senses – looking, smelling, touching, and listening – and thinking of words to describe the experiences and sensations. At lunch time, we will talk about the tastes and textures of our food.

During the afternoons, the children will be doing German, well-being, games on the field, music and movement, and nature study/woodland area.

Outside, we will be busy preparing the garden for winter by cutting back the rosemary and prepping our beds for winter . There may even be some vegetables hiding in the mud pit ready to be dug up by any budding gardeners.

The Discoverers' word of the week is help.
